What is it?
NVivo is software that supports qualitative and mixed methods research. It’s designed to help you organize, analyze and find insights in unstructured, or qualitative data like: interviews, open-ended survey responses, articles, social media and web content.
NVivo gives you a place to organize and manage your material so that you can start to find insights in your data. It also provides tools that allow you to ask questions of your data in a more efficient way.
How to use it?
Gather, organise and analyse research data from a wide range of qualitative or quantitative research methods such as: interviews, focus groups, surveys, audio/visual, web pages, social media.
Cognitive processes you could target with this tool:
This tool supports higher order learning such as critical thinking and problem solving. So, depending on the use, you could target a diversity of cognitive processes.
You will need to download Nvivo to use it. Some institutions buy Nvivo licenses to be distributed openly amongst researchers. Ask around in your university before buying a license. However, to get started, you can download Nvivo by clicking here.
